Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most important risk factors with respect to coronary heart disease and stroke. This study investigates whether the degree of hypertension may be evaluated by information derived from non-supervised classification of images of 24h hypertension waveform parameters. Images under investigation have as sinusoidal components the curves of 24 h systolic blood pressure, 24h diastolic blood pressure and 24h heart rate. A nonsupervised image classification algorithm presented in this study is applied for the classification of patient images of 24h hypertension waveform parameters. Image analysis findings can be used as a tool to study the mechanisms of the cardiovascular control system in the presence of essential hypertension.
