Abstract

Background and Aim: Evidence from conventional microscopy suggests that if cellular material is excluded from the embryo at compaction (incomplete compaction), blastocyst formation and outcome may be compromised (Ivec et. al., 2011). The introduction of time-lapse has made it possible to evaluate compaction by observing the entire process rather than relying on a single static observation. This has enabled any correlation between compaction completeness, morula grade and outcome to be studied.
