Abstract

Precast retaining walls, like other structural elements, should be produced with quality and be inspected during service life. The objective of our research was to evaluate whether the ultrasound testing allows to infer quality parameters (strength and stiffness) of precast parts for containment walls, before (classification) and after (inspection) the installation. Assuming 5% as the maximum safety-related error limit (property prediction higher than the actual value of the property), in general the technique is suitable for sorting and inspecting elements of the system, with better results for stiffness and model specific for an aggregate than for strength and general model.
