Abstract

A new approach to the classical description of atom-molecule collisions is investigated. It is based on the random choice of the initial conditions in coordinates and the momenta. Comparison with quantum analysis is made and it is found to be very good for transitions from the ground state, whilst from the excited states the classical theory gives good results at higher collision energies.
