Abstract

We present a study of the ionization and capture processes in collisions of H+, He2+ and C6+ with water molecules. Single and total cross sections are obtained in the energy range 20 keV/amu ≤ E ≤ 10 MeV/amu, in the framework of the CTMC method, using a three-center model potential to describe the target molecule. We study the asymptotic behaviour of the total ionization cross section and we propose scaling laws for capture and ionization cross sections.
