Abstract

Using classical calculations as a guideline, we study the asymptotic behavior of the electronic flux in atomic collisions. We find that the average velocity of excited and captured electrons is well represented by the usual electron translation factors. However, these factors are not well suited to describe ionization, and a new form is proposed.
