Abstract

Abstract A general expression is obtained for the classical electrostatic interaction between undistorted atomic charge distributions constructed through one-electron Hartree-Fock wave functions. The original two-center problem is uncoupled by working in Fourier space leading to one-center integrals. The results of this work are suitable for applications of the independent atom model (IAM) in the study of molecule formation.
