Abstract
The 22nd Party Congress has posed major and important responsibilities before Soviet historical scholarship. Of special importance among them is the critical study and assimilation of the best humanistic traditions of the history of world culture, on the basis of which the culture of the new Communist society is to be built. "The culture of communism," we read in the CPSU Program, "which adopts and advances the best products of world culture is a new and higher stage in the cultural progress of mankind." (1)
