Abstract

A large class of so-called 'semiperfect' binary sequences or any length N=2/sup k/, having the periodic autocorrelation function equal to zero at +or-N/4 bit intervals around the origin, is constructed. Any one of such sequences, plus N/4 cyclically repeated bits at each end, is ideal for use as a midamble sequence for channel impulse response estimation in mobile communication systems with BPSK, MSK-type, QPSK and offset-QPSK modulation.
