Abstract

The article is timed to the 30th anniversary of the publication of the article by the American political scientist S. Huntington "Clash of Civilizations?", which contains statements about the appearance of signs of a new generation of confl icts associated with the increasingly growing contradictions between the collective West and the rest of the world. A number of arguments are given explaining S. Han-tington's thesis that the confrontation between Western, on the one hand, the Orthodox, Chinese and Islamic civilizations, on the other, is essentially a civilizational conflict. The conclusion is made that the conflict of civilizations is one of many other factors that to a greater or lesser extent can influence specific processes in the field of international and national security.
