Abstract

This collection explores the conventional history of the Sri Lankan civil war and peace process, and then examines what is left out of that narrative framework. The special issue aims to explore diverse regional aspects of civil society in Sri Lanka, which can help illuminate how ‘bottom-up’ social, economic and political processes can challenge the traditional ‘top-down’ elitist notions and create a new discourse for constructing a lasting peace on the island.
