Abstract

The news from Germany these days may leave you wondering just what is happening there with respect to freedom and social controls, constitutional democracy and police repression. The greater your concern, the better, I'd say. The Federal Republic of West Germany depends on American public opinion. Though it may be in poor taste to say so openly, we are a protectorate of the United States. Which is why a single critical word spoken in New York has a greater impact on Bonn than 20,000 signatures on a petition in Lower Saxony or West Berlin.
