Abstract

This paper reports on the design and implementation of an interactive lighting system in public space, and proposes interactive strategies that can be used between different distances. Having reviewed literature on current applications of interactive lighting systems, the researchers made observations in a suitable context. Then, relevant functions, technology, and materials were tested for discovering the best way to combine communication, control technique, and mechanical design in one interactive lighting system. Upon completion of the implementation, the firmware and control software for the interactive lighting system were developed to provide actual user experience in the public space of Tainan City Park.
