Abstract

Despite the fact that city tourism has become increasingly attractive, still the planning authorities undervalue it when developing city infrastructures, especially when extending Wi-Fi covering or other mobile location services. In this paper, we are discussing some problems that occur in existing solutions for mobile applications for city tourism. We check a hypothesis if sharing a real-time location of city visitors may be beneficial for choosing urban attractions. Further, we examine a new type of tourism application that is based on gamification models and location-sharing tools.
