Abstract

Through an analysis of the suppliers of the luxury goods used in royal coronations and funerals, Ian Archer seeks to establish in this article an important aspect of the interconnections between City and Court in early modern London. The sheer volume of luxury materials, particularly cloth, that these events required made a significant impact on the overall metropolitan economy. The suppliers of these materials, furthermore, played important roles as brokers between City and Court.
