Abstract
A new concept of leadership is needed to improve communica tions between professionals and nonprofessionals interested in the problem of crime and delinquency. The lay citizen's power, coupled with the professional citizen's know-how, can accelerate the pace in prevention, control, and treatment. Once laymen understand the value of professional leadership, they will no longer be "confused" about what will work in correction. They will be able to support the new research and demonstration projects now being developed in the field.
