Abstract
This article explores the question of the activities of public authorities in the development and implementation of the legal framework and mechanisms for providing citizens with legal information in modern conditions. The following are disclosed: types of mechanisms for providing this information; the current state and effectiveness of this provision; existing practical shortcomings in the activities of public authorities. Examples are given of the corresponding negative actions of public authorities on the application of European democratic principles for attracting civil society institutions to the management of public affairs in Ukraine.
