Abstract

Considering the value and importance of Open Access (OA) journals as prime medium of scientific communication, this paper tried to assess the citations pattern of OA journals. This study aimed at to study the citation tracking of OA Journals using the Google Scholar Citations. And also intended to examine the correlation between ISI and Web citations in Medicine. It identify the characteristics of Web citing sources such as file format, hyperlinking, Internet domain, language and publication year in the discipline Neurology in 2007. The results show that 56% of the Google Scholar citations were from OA and the file format of the OA citing sources that targeting Neurology research papers, was mostly PDF format.
