Abstract
The paper makes citation analysis of PhD theses submitted in the discipline of library and information science, Panjab University, Chandigarh during 1976-2017. The study is based on the 10961 citations from 63 PhD theses of library and information science. The study conducted to analyse various parameters like type of documents cited, authorship pattern, geographical scattering of citations, chronological distribution of citations, subject distribution of citations and a ranked list of LIS journals. The study finds that highest numbers of citations are single authored 72.92% and 55.10 % citations are from journal articles. The geographical analysis explores that 43.20 % citations are from India, followed by USA and so on.
