Abstract

This paper discusses the results of the study of the carbonate beds of the Cisuralian Series of the Permian System in the Sol-Iletsk Swell near the merging point of the Cisuralian Foredeep and the Peri-Caspian Depression. Assemblages of fusulinids and smaller foraminifers are studied in the boreholes. Seven biostratigraphic subdivisions (beds with fauna) are recognized for the upper Artinskian-lower Kungurian interval and microfacies are studied in great detail. The carbonate succession is lithostratigraphically subdivided and patterns in facies distribution are revealed at the upper Artinskian-lower Kungurian boundary.
