Abstract

AbstractIsomerization ofcis‐9‐octadecenoic acid and its nitrile was investigated using different catalysts under different experimental conditions during the ammonolysis and dehydration process. It was found that the ratio ofcis‐ totrans‐9‐octadecene nitrile depends upon the catalyst type and decreases as the process temperature and the reaction time increase and as the catalyst load decreases. Simultaneously, higher amounts of hydrocarbons are formed.
