Abstract

The authors report a case of traumatic bone cyst located in the region of left mandibular body in contiguity with the distal root of the second molar, in a 15-year-old female patient. Without clinical signs, the only contributive datum to the diagnosis was the radiographic feature, and due to the absence ofthe third molar germ, the differential diagnosis hypothesis of primordial cyst was fanned, besides being considered the possibility of'periapical cyst, giant cell granuloma, ameloblastoma, aneurysmatic bone cyst and traumatic bone cyst. Following the puncture of the lesion, with the obtainrnent of a reasonable amount of sanguinary material, the clinical diagnosis ofaneurysmatic bone cyst was proposed. The proposed treatment was surgical enucleation, during which, absence of cellular lesion or cysticcontent was observed, being evidenced a clear cavity with bony walls ofcomplete aspect, which guided the diagnosis in the sense of being a traumatic bonecyst. After sixmonth follow-up, the radiographic feature evidenced satisfactory cicatricialbone repair. Key words: simple bone cyst, hemorrhagic bone cyst, solitary bone cyst, progressive bone cyst, traumatic bone cyst.
