Abstract
Feline idiopathic cystitis (FIC) is a disease that mainly affects domestic cats, and can be very frequent, associated with frequency and pain. It is a very complex condition because its specific cause is not known. Its diagnosis is made through exclusion, that is, by ruling out other possible causes of lower urinary tract inflammation. In most cases, dietary changes, environmental enrichment and stress control are used, in an attempt to promote the well-being of those affected and improve the quality of life. It is essential that there is the right choice for treatment, as a mistake can lead to the individual's death, and several types of drug intervention to control pain and anti-inflammatory drugs to relieve patients' suffering are viable. Therefore, the present study addresses the main aspects of the ICF, such as the pathophysiology, clinical signs, diagnoses, and treatment, exploring different perspectives highlighted in the literature.
