Abstract
This paper presents a novel circumferential current field testing method for the detection of innerwall cracks in aluminum tube. The finite element method (FEM) model of the circumferential current field testing method is proposed to analyze the electromagnetic field around the crack. The circumferential current field testing probe with tunnel magneto resistance (TMR) sensor array and testing system are developed. The inner-wall crack detection experiments are carried out. The results show that the inner-wall cracks in aluminum tube can be detected, positioned and evaluated by the circumferential current field testing method.
