Abstract

Examination of the previous approximate solutions shows that the form of Eq. (6) is too restrictive. One must either pick the correct value of vf and accept inaccurate results, or accept a wrong value of v/ in order to improve results for the density distribution. The main point of this note is that a more general form allows one to keep the correct value of v/ and improve agreement with numerical results. The approximate solution proposed in Eqs. (8) and (12) has been constructed to contain the known solution of the plane gas cloud expansion as a special case.
