Abstract

Optical model of ball lightning where conventional white light circulates in a thin spherical film of strongly compressed air enables us to analyze other various phenomena that usually are considered as anomalous. One of these phenomena is the suction of the component with the highest refractive index from an optical medium consisting of several gases into the area where the light is circulating. This phenomenon was discovered experimentally when trying to obtain artificial lightning in the laboratory and can be used in various other applications. In this article, we analyze the physical nature of this phenomenon.
