Abstract

In this article, two conformal strips of unequal length with modified Wilkinson power divider are used to excite the cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna for circular polarization and high gain application. By connecting small ring strip in the original Wilkinson power divider, |S11| bandwidth increases from 23.52% to 35.61% with improved impedance matching from −14.16 to −35 dB. In case of axial ratio, the small ring strip improves the 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth from 14.92% to 15.21%. The proposed antenna provides measured |S11| and 3-dB axial ratio bandwidth of 40% and 9.24%, respectively. The left-handed circularly polarized is greater than right-handed circularly polarized by 10 dB in both xz and yz planes and the measured peak gain is 10.1 dB. © 2017 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
