Abstract

A new circular-lattice photonic crystal fiber (CL-PCF) with square air-holes in the cladding is designed and numerically investigated, which can support up to 58 OAM modes. The transmission characteristics such as confinement loss, chromatic dispersion, effective mode area and nonlinear coefficient are analyzed by using a full-vector finite element method. The proposed CL-PCF, used in fiber communication systems, might greatly enhance the channel capacity and spectral efficiency.
