Abstract

A circular photonic crystal fiber (C-PCF) integrated with higher index nano rods in silica background core is proposed. The nano rods are permeated with three semiconductor material Titanium Oxide, chalcogenide glass and an Aromatic polymer. The characteristic features of the proposed structure are explored and the effect of materials in the infused nano-rods on the parameters of the PCF is studied including attenuation coefficient, confinement loss, effective refractive index and effective modal area. The proposed fiber achieved a low confinement loss of 1.2×10−5 dB/m and a low attenuation coefficient of order 10−6 dB/m for the Aromatic polymer with best effective area out of all the materials as 4.29μm2.
