Abstract
Effectiveness, subsidiarity, and efficiency are all products of EU legislation enacted to combat waste and promote circular economy practices. The Finnish Waste Program 2030 is the primary document in Finland promoting a green economy, environmental improvement, and environmental knowledge, followed by the European Commission’s Circular Economy Action Plan. Despite the existence of waste management programs, waste continues to grow. Thus, the application of circular economy principles across multiple sectors represents an innovative solution to this problem. The most effective comparison between Finland and the EU was conducted using the T-test for two independent measures of treated waste in both cases. The amount of food that is wasted or lost is a significant issue in Finland and the EU.
