Abstract
This paper describes the design of a Yagi-Uda stacked antenna array for 2.4 GHz applications. Its structure consists of 4 layers, layer 1 contains the active element, the reflector and the transmission line feed. Layers 2, 3 and 4 have circular patches that function as directors. The implementation of a "D" shaped patch on the active element is inserted, where the simulation results show that the proposed antenna can achieve a bandwidth that is much wider than the traditional circular patch antenna. Also the dimensions of the circular patch directors and their distances are chosen to have the highest directivity. The antenna simulation is performed in Ansoft Designer and Ansys HFSS 15.0 software.
