Abstract

In this paper we consider a three-dimensional diffraction problem in which multiple interfering spherical coaxial wavefronts such as those produced in a Fabry–Perot type of interferometer are diffracted by a circular aperture. Numerical calculations are made with the Rayleigh–Sommerfeld diffraction formula in the Fresnel approximation. The beams are considered monochromatic and mutually coherent. The asymptotic solution of the problem is presented.
