Abstract

The circadian variations in flow rate and pH of stimulated parotid sauva and the concentrations of sodium, potassium, calcium, chloride, inorganic and total phosphate, nitrogen, protein, glucose and total carbohydrate have been studied and shown to fit curves derived from a combination of a fundamental sine wave of 24 hr period and its first harmonic. Such curves are reproducible in an individual subject but considerable variation exists between subjects.
