Abstract

In the Indian Ocean, one third the distance from Mombasa to Bombay, lies the British Colony of the Seychelles, which consists of ninety-two islands. On four of these islands-Mahe, Praslin, La Digue and Silhouette-cinnamon grows in great abundance, particularly on Mahe and Silhouette, where the annual rainfall is often one hundred inches or more. Cinnamon leaf-oil and bark preparations form one of the main exports of the Colony.
