Abstract

This paper has as its principal objective stress the importance of the inclusion of the subject “Science, spirituality and health” both on the teaching and on the practice of medicine. Divided into three parts, on the first moment, it aims to emphasize that the spiritual dimension of the human being cannot be neglected. Taking as reference the approach of some contemporary philosophers, it presents breath characterizations of the notion of spirituality. From concrete data, in sequence, it approaches the causes of the insertion of spirituality on the medical teaching. The text’s final parts, even if summarized, seek to deal with some of the problems of the contemporary society, namely among disease and object, patient and person, money and care. By way of conclusion, it presents a short teachers’ experience story, and some challenges are listed for a spiritual formation, which, in turn, helps in a humanizing formative process.
