Abstract

The internet has contributed to the increasing use of politics and activism on the networks by social groups. In this article, a contextualization of the use of social networks and web platforms is made as an articulating element of the Association of Indigenous Cabildo del Norte del Cauca (Cxhab Waka Kiwe), of which the Indigenous Movement of Cauca is part, to give to know their political and social needs in the Colombian public sphere. The theoretical basis was Dahlgren's (2005) conceptualization of the internet in the public sphere, and Sampedro's (2005) of cyberactivism. Likewise, the methodology of analysis of social networks is worked out by making a description of the elements that operate within these, referring to social mobilization. As a result, digital channels have served them to publicize the problems of displacement, land theft and others. They have also opened up opportunities for them to favor political proselytism and promote it through the management of social networks and web pages. It is concluded that cyberspace opens the possibility for organizations or social movements to reduce the exclusion to which they have been historically exposed.
