Abstract

As the first learned society in the world to be devoted to education and training in the field of “modern arbitration”, CIArb plays a unique role in furthering the profession and in encouraging and facilitating the use of arbitration. It has a long-standing history in promoting best practices in the field and offering guidance through research and scholarly publications. This article briefly examines the origin of CIArb’s Arbitration Guidelines and explains the main reasons for their revision. It also provides a general description of the drafting process and a summary of the main amendments of the recently revised Guidelines.
