Abstract

The article publishes the results of the survey and analysis of the total content of total organic carbon, Iron, Zinc, Lead, Cadmium and Arsenic in the sediment of Xuan Dai Bay, located in Song Cau Town, Phu Yen Province in 2021. In dry season the total content of each element including total organic carbon, Iron, Zinc, Lead, Cadmium, and Arsenic has an average of 51.21±11.85%, 2371.165±2084.850 mg/kg, 10440±4770 mg/kg, 1255±0.608 mg/kg, 0.007±0.002 mg/kg, and 0.464±0.265 mg/kg respectively; in rainy season the average values are 57,23±12,79%, 16741.178±1332.540 mg/kg, 15591±3320 mg/kg, 1085±0.338 mg/kg, 0.008±0.002 mg/kg, and 0.118±0.060 mg/kg. In more detail, the figure for the total organic carbon in the bay sediments is high, which is potentially harmful to benthic fauna. Additionally, the content of heavy metals is quite low and fluctuates significantly among sampling locations.
