Abstract

Summary. Chrysosplenium arunachalense Bhaumik from Arunachal Pradesh, India is described and illustrated. This species forms a small colony as the flowering stem bears new plantlets at the axils of cauline leaves and the colony spreads gradually. It differs from other species of subgen. Gamosplenium Maxim. emend. J. T. Pan in plants glabrous throughout, leaf blade oblong to elliptic-oblong with cordate base and the cauline leaf axil bears new plantlets. The type locality is covered with snow for 3 – 5 months each year.
