Abstract

Abstract In this article, I present a story that elaborates my experience of a collaborative assessment utilizing Rorschach testing as the point of entry into the client's world. I discuss the collaborative conversation that took place within the shared space of the assessment, while articulating my own theoretical understanding of the process. The final assessment report summarizing our work together is reproduced in its entirety. I first met Kathy in the small, cramped office of her therapist, which was situated precisely in the middle of the social hub of the drug and alcohol rehabilitation center where Kathy had spent the last three months working diligently to rebuild her life. The Center was alive with activity, and as the three of us (Kathy, her therapist, Luke, and I) sat casually talking about the logistics of testing and signing consent forms, we were interrupted by just about everyone who walked past.
