Abstract

Especially with the advent of biologics which have originally been prescribed primarily for pulmonary disease, the interconnections between asthma and chronic rhinosinusitis are becoming even more apparent. Biologics can now also be prescribed for chronic rhinosinusitis in some countries. But what is the epidemiology, pathophysiology and treatment of both diseases? This review covers the epidemiology, pathophysiology, morbidity and treatment of both diseases. Specifically, this review highlights the interdependencies of both diseases and potential future treatment options. This review aims to alert physicians to go beyond treating only one of the diseases, but rather to get a broader picture of the diseases and treatment options.
