Abstract
1. 1. A system was developed for the chronic implantation of Ca 2+ selective electrodes in the uterine horns and tubes of ovariectomised ewe. 2. 2. Recordings were made over a 3-week period. 3. 3. Resting free [Ca 2+] was of the order of 1 mM. 4. 4. Progesterone increased only the uterine horn [Ca 2+], whereas oestrogen caused a transient rise only in the tubal [Ca 2+].
