Abstract
ABSTRACT: A simple demonstration of the chromatography of food dyes suitable for high school students is presented. Reversed phase mini‐columns are utilized to separate dyes in grape and lime drinks. The exercise introduces chromatography and reinforces the concept of polarity. It has been successfully used to actively engage students for periods of 30 to 60 min.
