Abstract

Abstract The cell nucleus contains chromosome territories (CTs) and an interchromatin compartment (IC). The CT–IC model provides a framework for the functional nuclear architecture with a set of testable predictions. In particular, it predicts a topological level of gene regulation based on a cell‐type‐specific 3D architecture of higher‐order chromatin domains.
