Abstract

In this paper, the performance of chromatic dispersion compensation for offset quadrature amplitude modulation/filter bank multicarrier (OQAM/FBMC) based coherent WDM using digital filtering is evaluated. The digital filter is applied to equalize the chromatic dispersion at the data rate of 60 Gbit/s per user for a 16-channel WDM system. The performance of the digital filter is evaluated for different channel spacing, optical signal-to-noise ratio, linear and nonlinear impairments and fiber lengths. Simulation results show that, the digital chromatic dispersion compensation filter is capable of compensating the distortion at high data rate over a distance of 80 km of a single mode fiber for channel spacing of only 1.25 times the symbol rate.
