Abstract

Abstract Christology as Description of Faith In the nineteen-twenties Karl Barth and Paul Tillich constructed their Christologies without the historical Jesus. Both have replaced the reference to the historical figure Jesus of Nazareth by the faith as a happening in the history. This article will show that the differentiation between faith and empiric historical research does not only offer structural similarities in a high degree but also a continuative thought for the present debates on the historical Jesus-research and the dogmatic Christology.
