Abstract

Christianity is a religion in which the faithful are urged to proselytize others who are not Christians and, in some cases, even members of other Christian sects. There is a range of ways in which this might be done. At one extreme is what may be called the inspirational approach. By the way in which one lives one’s life it is possible to persuade others of the virtue of behaving in such a praise-worthy way and, thus, to inspire them to do likewise. On the other, darker, extreme there is the fear-based approach. Those seeking to convert others may use fear tactics, such as the threat of spending eternity in Hell.
