Abstract

The issue of economic development is of national concern. The Nigerian economy had a truncated history from independence to present times and the economy has suffered series of economic instability because of a long period of unsustained growth in the per capital real income of the country, accompanied by lack of fundamental changes in the structure of the economy. The government of Nigeria has a significant role to play, but it seems that Nigerian economic development has not yet been assured. Therefore, this paper attempts an examination of the Christian church as a catalyst to economic development in Nigeria.
