Abstract

Heritage preservation and conservation are vital issues hard to ensure without use of modern technologies, especially when storage condition issues are concerned. In this paper, we focus on approaches to heritage preservation by means of information technologies. Authors mention existing approaches to microclimate management within exhibition spaces and analyze their advantages and drawbacks. A typical image of components to organize the software and hardware complex is presented including sensor topology, system architecture and data schema. A prototype of software-hardware microclimate management complex is proposed. We make an attempt to build a hybrid architecture of domain-based information and control system to assist museum workers within exhibition spaces in tasks of providing better conditions for exhibits. A light-weight domain model of heritage pieces, exhibition halls and keeping conditions is suggested, model validation and verification tests are conducted.
