Abstract

Choosing one's vocation in life is a complex and many-faceted process. Many research disciplines study various aspects of this process. In recent years numerous scholarly studies, scientific articles, and books have been devoted to the choice of an occupation, vocational guidance, and the embarkation of youth on their life careers. It is literature for specialists. There is only a handful of publications intended for the mass reader. The literature has not by any means discussed everything that is involved in the choice of an occupation; in particular, the close relationships that exist between occupational self-determination and the territorial mobility of the population have not been examined.
